Welcome to RESET!
We are an interdisciplinary research team at the University of Houston, with expertise in bilingual/ESL education and science education, dedicated to transforming science classrooms through translanguaging, a pedagogy focused on helping emergent bilinguals to feel like they belong in the classroom. We partner with the teachers in ALIEF ISD in Houston. Take a look at what they have to say about their experience with us so far!

Professional Development"One noteworthy aspect of the RESET program that I highly value is its training focused on employing translanguaging in the classroom with emergent bilinguals. This aspect equips teachers with many strategies, empowering students to approach their learning more critically and fostering increased confidence in utilizing their mother language."
"..they [PDs] definitely allow me to really think about how my lessons in science should be going and help me create ideas that I can take in to the classroom." |
Collaboration"Being able to plan with other science teachers with emergent bilingual students in mind was such a rewarding experience."
"Another aspect involves collaborative efforts among teachers who unite to create lessons to support emergent bilinguals. This collaboration entails seamlessly integrating cultural, socially relevant, and engineering practices into the learning experience." |
